I EXPECT TO BE TRAVELLING and writing travel pieces this year as usual, despite a
large chunk of travel being abandoned because the Chinese refused me a visa - don't
ask, you really don't want to know. Been to China a couple of times before and at
one time they were quite pally - the Chinese Embassy used to send me Christmas cards. Very
nice ones too, - hand painted no less. But at present British writers are persona
non grata.
I'll be pottering round Tuscany for a bit, then sailing down the Dalmation coast and,
in October, I am off on a tour of Patagonia. It's hard work but somebody has got
to do it.I live exactly half way between the Lakes and the Dales so I have plenty of choice for walking - Bowland, the Howgills and the North Pennines are all fairly close too, so I expect to be walking there too. I expect to be writing about all this in mags and papers. I am at present revising my Everest book (again!) but if there are any editors or agents out there who are interested in other projects, then please contact me. I'm prepared to discuss any ideas that interest me! I generally illustrate my own articles and have quite a little library (about 10,000 trannies) many from remote places. Any editor is welcome to make enquiries about these, if he or she is having difficulty finding a pic. (Bona fide editors only, please). Some of the images illustrate the previous page.
