Once did an overland trip from Manchester and back to climb in the Karakorum. Widely travelled in Europe for mountaineering and birdwatching. Has written features on 40 different countries. Collects Munros (just a few to do), Corbetts, Donalds, Wainwrights, Marilyns, etc together with classic climbs and bird sightings (feathered variety).
