Simon Whaley has been writing and taking photographs since his early teens, but only became a full time writer/photographer in January 2004 following the success of his best selling book ‘100 Ways For A Dog To Train His Human’. He has since gone on to provide walking route descriptions for magazines such as Country Walking and Country & Border Life, as well as contribute to a variety of other magazines.
Living on the Welsh Borders, he feels that Wales is his back garden, although the Lake District also makes a good day trip. He has also produced work for corporate clients, such as the Welsh Tourist Board and the Stillwell Holiday Cottage Guide, and was commissioned by Frances Lincoln to produce ‘Best Walks in the Welsh Borders’ published in 2007. The Bluffer's Guide to Hiking takes a light hearted look at walking, published in 2009.

| As well as writing, Simon helps to run writing holidays on behalf of HF Holidays at their hotels across the UK.

| Writer and Photographer contributing regularly to Country Walking’s Down Your Way section, and producing the popular Country & Border Walks With Simon Whaley column for Country & Border Life magazine. He has also written for Walking Wales, In Britain, British Life, Dogs Monthly, Holdiay Cottages, Cumbria, People’s Friend and The Lady.
