Taught Physics, Electronics for 31 years in secondary school (Head of Dept), took early retirement to devote more time to writing, researching, hill walking etc.

Business interests
Publisher (P3 Publications), local books, mainly about Cumbria, but including a walking guide for Greece, updated in 2009.

Professional activities
Writer, public speaker on local history, occasional TV appearances re- Cumbria local history. "Gretna munitions" (History channel), "Out and about" (Eric Robson); Carlisle Canal.
