| Born Cambridge 1955. BA Jt Hons. English Literature and History 1978. First visited the Lake District in 1964 and regularly after that until moving to Grayrigg in 1990. Also visited Scotland many times hillwalking and to see the land of my forebears, Strath Halladale. Wrote for The Classic Motorcycle as northern correspondent from 1990–94, and freelanced for other motorcycle titles. Established photography business in 1993, and opened studio in 1995. Joined Kendal Mountain Search and Rescue Team in 1997 (currently membership secretary). Also member of the Vintage Motorcycle Club, the Fine Art Trade Guild, the National Trust, RSPB, RNLI, Friends of the Lake District, John Muir Trust, and the St Kilda Club.
