Ian Battersby has always held a deep appreciation of the outdoors. He began walking and backpacking in the British mountains as a teenager, and has operated a SLR camera from the age of 14. This gave him invaluable experience in both technical and artistic aspects of photography. He now uses DSLRs for most of his work, with occasional forays into the world of medium format.
His photography has taken him from Norway to Australia, including a 10 month cycle camp from England to Egypt, a journey of 12,000km via Eastern Europe and the Middle East. As well as foreign travel Ian continues to backpack in Britain with recent trips including the Paddy Buckley Round, the Bob Graham Round, and a personally designed coast to coast route through the mountains of Wales.
Ian has become one of the most regular contributors to TGO magazine, and wrote the information panels for the Wainwrights on the TGO website.
