Fergal MacErlean is an outdoors writer and journalist based in central Scotland. He went freelance in 2005 after a career as a ranger and staff journalist, which included a stint as assistant editor on TGO.
Now, having happily married his main interests of cycling, hiking and writing, he contributes to a raft of publications which includes feature writing for the national press and magazines as diverse as Adventure Travel and BBC Wildlife.

Weekly cycle column with The Herald (Glasgow). Produce VisitScotland's Walking in Scotland publication annually. Current projects: Walking guidebook to Stirling and environs (Pocket Mountains); production of a series of guides for Sustrans Scotland.
