| I am a professional editor and writer who began career as a tour guide in the Lake District. I worked in tour operating for seven years before taking a postgraduate diploma in Publishing and joining the AA as a travel editor. Now I'm a freelance editor and writer working in all aspects of travel and the outdoors.

| Professional freelance editor and writer
| I am currently Chairman of the Outdoor Writers and Photographers Guild. I am also Assistant Chief Officer of Cumbria Association of Local Councils - a part time role which occupies me for two days a week.
| I'm still looking for a category...
| I revised the latest editions of the AA's Leisure Guides to the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales; I have also recently revised Essential Dublin, Essential Ireland and Keyguide Ireland for the AA, as well as working on Keyguides to Britain, Scotland, 50 Walks in the Lake District 50 Walks in Durham and Northumberland (all AA). I edited The Ultimate Hillwalking Skills Manual (David & Charles);I wrote Drive and Stroll Cumbria (Countryside Books). My recent editorial clients have included AA Publishing, HF Holidays, David & Charles, Dymond Guides, Frommers, Millennium Copthorne Hotels, Bright Bird Productions and Clear Media.
| Main areas of interest | |
| I guess my main expertise is in Britain's heritage and countryside; England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland; walking; walking guides; travel guides; pocket travel guides; special-interest holidays. I can work editorially in QuarkXpress and InDesign. I know more than is perhaps healthy about English parish councils.
