Andy Newton has been a climber since 1976 and a mountaineering and outdoor activity instructor since 1981. He has a keen knowledge of rock climbing and mountaineering in Britain, and Snowdonia in particular. Considerable involvement with the British Mountaineering Council and Mountain Leader Training has provided him with a particularly comprehensive overview of both formal and informal mountain training in this country, in addition to related access and conservation matters. Guidebook production, equipment testing & reviews and technical-based pieces have featured in his published work, as has a deep understanding of the climbing scene and local area.
