| Travelling the remoter areas of the world since 1967, driving various four-wheel drive vehicles, I have made 23 expeditions in the Sahara Desert, and more than 165 expeditions and journeys in deserts, mountains, rainforests and seas worldwide. I have also travelled on foot, camel, mule and in Greenland by dog sledge. An award-winning writer and photographer, I have written 16 books on off-road 4-wheel drive, trekking and diving and produce articles and photography for a wide variety of magazines, newspapers and their weekend magazine supplements worldwide and as Advertisements and brochures. Nikon Cameras (UK) staged an exhibition of my underwater photography in 1989. I am a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a member of the Alpine Club, Climber’s Club and the Scientific Exploration Society.

My work is published regularly in other books, magazines, newspapers and their weekend magazine supplements and museums worldwide and as Advertisements, Advertising Hoardings, CD-ROMs, Calendars, Postcards, Cereal Packets and inserts, Posters and Postage Stamps. I produce advertising photography and articles for government tourist boards, advertising agencies, equipment manufacturers and charter operators. Occasional contributor to all four UK diving magazines, diving and adventure magazines in Germany, Holland, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand, Wanderlust Magazine, social magazines and newspapers. Professional lecturing at major travel and diving shows worldwide and on photography and travel in the UK.

| Only the second person ever to achieve a Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society in underwater nature photography, I serve on their Documentary and Visual Journalism Photography and Travel Photography Distinction Panels. Numerous photographic awards and two book awards: "The Dive Sites of The Philippines" won "The KALAKBAY AWARD for the Top Foreign Travel Publication Of The Year 1996" and "Top Dive Sites of The World" won "The DIVER MAGAZINE AWARD for the Top Publication (Book, CD-ROM or Video) of 1997".
