| Author of twelve walking guides and weekly column for the Manchester Evening News, both in partnership with husband John. In nearly 17 years and over 850 walks for the Manchester Evening News they have explored most of North West England as well as continuing to write for various magazines. Their two volume The Mountains of England and Wales is widely accepted as the definitive guide for peak-baggers. Former member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, gave up pharmacy to concentrate on outdoor writing. Specialises in the historical and botanical background of walks.
